Would you like to learn to play the drums and prepare for a drum exam with Rockschool?
drums.education offers you a structured and self-paced way to prepare for your RSL Awards exam – combined with optional professional feedback at every key stage.
The concept is deliberately clear and straightforward, so that you can focus entirely on what matters most: your musical development and playing the drums with confidence.

Sign up and choose your level

Signing up to drums.education is free. Simply register and select the level you wish to prepare for and study. To study and prepare, you will need the relevant digital interactive Rockschool book. A link to purchase it will be provided. The book is purchased separately via RSL Awards.

Prepare independently

All pieces of music, technical exercises and accompanying tests are prepared independently and at your own pace. The entire examination programme is developed and compiled gradually over the course of our lessons. This approach not only helps you build a repertoire, but also strengthens your organisational skills and the habit of structured learning – essential skills for long-term musical progress. Our courses guide you step by step and, with plenty of explanations, interactive exercises and a structured plan, enable you to learn in a stress-free and motivating way.

Record your exam video | Optional Feedback booking

Once the programme is ready, the exam performance is recorded and optional submitted to drums.education. Each submission is assessed carefully according to the official Rockschool marking criteria. Detailed feedback is provided, covering:
Timing and groove
– Technical control and coordination
– Sound and dynamic balance
– Stylistic awareness and musical expression
– Structure and overall performance quality

Videos may be submitted as often as desired. The aim is to refine the programme progressively until it reaches exam standard.

A feedback fee applies per submission. The submission is assessed according to level and standard.

Official submission to RSL Awards

When your performance meets the required standard and you feel confident, you can officially submit your exam to RSL Awards. We provide a link and a how to explanation.

Costs are fully transparent for the exam and need to be paid upon submission***.

After your exam has been graded by official RSL Awards Rockschool examiners and you passed, you will receive your certificate and a comprehensive feedback on your exam performance.
